Casa de la Luz is in the small village of Bubion. The views were lovely, the village was tranquil, and the owners were very friendly. We got good tips on child-friendly walks in the area and a great restaurant in town. We would definitely recommend it to others, including families with small children.

We spent a great week in Bubion at Casa de la Luz last June. The apartment was clean, tidy and well furnished and it was very convenient for the shops and restaurants. The owners, Janny and Manuel live up the road and were great hosts, making us most welcome and entertaining us. They gave us lots of information about the walks and the region and the best restaurants and helped us to make the most of our holiday.
Bubión is a small quiet village with few tourists and has some nice restaurants and interesting weaving shops. The walks in the area are varied and interesting and generally it was not too hot because of the altitude; a highlight of our stay was a trip to the top of Mulhacen and then a walk back to the neighbouring village. We would not hesitate to recommend Casa de la Luz

We loved our stay at Casa de la luz.
We spent 2 months in Spain and this was our favourite place.
We spent a week here. It was peaceful and quiet but there
was plenty to do in Bubion and surrounding
towns. The accommodation was perfect for us (2 adults and
4 year old child). It was even better than it appeared in
the photos and description and has real charm. It has everything
we needed. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds comfortable
and the verandah was fabulous to sit on for breakfast and
in the evenings. Everything in the town is within easy walking
distance. Janny and Manuel (the owners) were really friendly
and helpful and it was great for us that they spoke English.
They provided excellent information about walks, restaurants
and day trips. Bubion is a great town and
within 30 minutes of strolling through the countryside (past
fig trees and goats with lovely sounding bells) you can
reach two other towns. There are some great places to eat
and our favourite was Estacion 4. The views
over the mountain and the town are really special, particularly
in the early evening. The whole area and the drive upto
Bubion is really spectacular. Bubion is
a wonderful example of a Spainish village with an interesting
history and did not feel busy or overly touristy either.
I highly recommend this accommodation.

My husband, 1 year old daughter and myself stayed in the Casa de la Luz for four nights this past November. house is well maintained, feels secluded and is a great starting point for excursions. The home is quaint with very sweet and helpful owners. There is a small grocery store 2 minutes away. We found very nice vegetarian restaurants in Bubion. We took day trips via car to Granada and the Mediterranean coast. The surrounding villages were great small day hikes. I would recommend staying in this home if you want a slow, relaxing vacation.

I have already recommended both Bubion village and the Casa de la Luz to friends and family and hope to go back myself one day. The Poquiera valley is stunning and the terrace provides amazing views to the peaks of the Sierra Nevada as well as to the Mediterranean sea (and mountains of Africa beyond on clear evenings). We spent a relaxing week walking the many paths throughout the valley and its environs (carrying our 12 month old daughter!) - across pretty mountainsides, to dramatic gorges, through forest patches and towards the snowy peaks, collecting chestnuts and walnuts along the way. What could be better?! The locals are friendly and Jenny and Manuel are excellent hosts. A fabulous break!

What a wonderful stay in Bubion.! A beautiful house with fresh air patio and views outside - music and comfy fireplace inside. We loved being able to cook for ourselves or go to resaurants nearby. Hiking was great and the maze of streets in the village were fun to explore. Especially friendly and helpful hosts Janny and Manuel. I can't wait to return soon! Casa de la Luz and The Alpujarra are the best.

We have stayed in La Casa de la Luz satisfactorily comfortably and enjoyed staying in Bubion, Sierra Nevada. The rooms including the living room with bright daylight and good views over the valley, the spacious bedrooms, the balcony viewing the Mediterranean over the mountains and the kitchen well equipped, all assisted our enjoyable stay in Bubion. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen Japanese dishes using some seasonings brought with us from home almost everyday. One thing to my regret, Africa did not reveal herself during our stay, although we could have a glimpse of her when we drove to Cabo de Gata, Almeria.
The location was ideal for our plan primarily of walking in Sierra Nevada and optional one day visit to Granada and one day drive to Almeria.

We had a lovely week in Bubion. It was easy to wind down and relax in this quiet spot with its gentle pace of life. This is a good place to be based if you like walking - there are lots of walks you can do in the Poqueira valley and beyond from the doorstep.. Granada was an easy day trip in the car. The house is very comfortable, well equipped and has great views from the sun terrace.. Janny and Manuel are good hosts and provide a warm welcome. We have no hesitation in recommending Casa de la Luz!

In December we stayed in Casa de Luz, and we really enjoyed it, because of the nice atmosphere of the house. The weather was wonderfull and during the day we could sit on the terrace and enjoy the views. More over, we loved walking in the surroundings and the children adored throwing snowballs at each other. The very nice thing of Casa the Luz was the fact that is was so nicely heated, and lovely decorated. Besides that Janny and Manuel helped us a lot when we had problems with our car. We really enjoyed our stay in Bubion. Thank you, Christel Jansen
